The National Education Technology Plan: Putting Learners at the Center
The diagram below, putting learners at the center of a web of personal, informational, and technological resources, illustrates the vision behind the National Education Technology Plan. Released by the U.S. Department of Education in 2010, the NETP presents goals and recommendations for a variety of stakeholders in education and looks closely at learning, assessment, teaching, productivity, and infrastructure. Karen Cator, Director of the Office of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education, led the development of the plan, and in the interview above reflects on the plan and its argument for tapping technology to aid in the transformation of learning in the United States.
The plan is hosted at the Department of Education website in an easy to scan format. (Or, download the PDFs of the report and the Executive Summary below.)Open NETP 2010-Executive Summary.pdf Open NETP 2010.pdf Open Karen Cator on the 2010 National Education Technology Plan_0.mp3
