Creating a Shared Classroom Vision
Visions can and should be big! Don’t be afraid to propose something very different or innovative. There are no right or wrong answers.
Take a few minutes to close your eyes and envision your ideal school. What would it look like? What would it feel like to be there? How would people treat each other? After you have thought about your vision for a few minutes share with a partner your ideas. Take turns listening and talking.
After pairs have shared ask these questions to have them think about:
What things did you both say? What did you have in common?
What things did only one of you say?
Were you surprised by anything you heard or thought of?
Did you disagree with anything your partner said?
What aspects of your vision do you strongly want as part of the group vision?
Share and post for group:
Please share with the group the things that you had in common, and the things that you strongly want as part of the group vision. As you share them we will write them on the list for the group.
Once everyone has shared what they had in common I’d like to ask where you disagreed. Were there elements of the vision that you had concerns about?
Again, we will go around the room and hear them and write them on the list for the group.
