This fellowship gives me another chance to stretch myself as an educator, specifically in writing. I have taught for three years and writing as always been my downfall because teachers in my district are not trained in writing instruction as we are in Math, Ela, Science, and Social Studies. My goals for the fellowship are:
- To learn new strategies and techniques I can use to improve my writing instruction.
- To create a successful family literacy program.
My first goal is based on improving my writing instruction because I know this is an area I have struggle with the last three years. This summer completing the National Writing Project really helped me get a kick start on ways to improve me writing instruction going into my fourth year of teaching. My second goal is based on creating a successful program because I feel it will show my hard work I have put into this fellowship will have paid off.
