Mining the Riches

Have you ever found some completely amazing resource on the web and then seeing that it was a couple years old thought, “Wow! Where have I been? How did I miss this?”

The truth is that there are vast treasures out there if only we can find them at the moments we can use them.

Turn this around and think about content you have posted on the web in the past and how it might be useful to others now. It could be an old blog post, conference proceedings, slide decks, a wiki or a Livebinder. But how others find them? One way is through Twitter if you take the time to remind people what is out there.

It may seem a bit like casting a message in a bottle out onto the ocean, but I am often delightfully surprised by responses like this:

In this spirit, we are reprising some of the last two year’s work in the CLMOOC Make Bank as “Makes of the Day” for Connected Educator month. It only takes a few minutes to tweet out a make each day. (See storified version below.)

Think about doing this for some of your “best of” online content. The world will thank you!
