Digital Is featured while new projects and discussions are underway

Interesting and thought provoking discussions and resources continue to be added to Digital Is everyday! We wanted to make you aware of two new group projects that are happening now too – the first one connected to Indiana University’s work on Designing for Participation and, the second, by the teacher inquiry community at the UNC Charlotte Writing Project who are exploring Digital Narratives in Urban Classrooms.

Keep an eye out for several new resources to come live from these projects soon and we also encourage you to jump in to participate.

NWP Digital Is has also been featured recently at DML Central by Digital Is community member and UCLA writing project teacher Antero Garcia.

He describes his experience with Digital Is and his sense that “At its heart, Digital Is embodies the potential of what happens when teachers get to teach teachers.”

Antero, along with several educators, including DI community member and writing project teacher, Katie McKay of the Heart of Texas Writing Project, will be presenting about “Innovations in Public Education” at the Digital Media and Learning Conference in San Francisco in March 2012. In sharing about this panel, Antero also featured Digital Is in his video introduction.

An important message too for the Digital Is Community: On Wednesday September 28th, the website will be down for several hours for an update. When we are back up we hope you will be pleased to see a new look designed to support better navigation, reading and searching as well as provide new ways for community members to interact and add content. We will send a follow-up email to let you know exactly when the site will be down as well as when you can come back to see the changes and give us feedback!

And remember, you can subscribe to the latest activity feed and get updates via @writingproject and #nwp.
