"Show, not tell" is the classic advice of writing teachers. I use this approach across all disciplines in my daily teaching of elementary students. Rather than 'tell' students what they should need to learn, I demonstrate how I am learning and approaching the subject matter. In turn, I ask them to show what they are investigating, exploring, and learning. Everyday, in these student demonstrations of learning, they teach me more than I could ever imagine.
