About
As an educator, Mindy A. Early has been honored to teach ages seven through seventy, facilitating workshops for students elementary through college, and professional development sessions for fellow artists, teaching artists, teachers, the corporate sector, and those seeking to explore their creative selves. In the theatre realm, Mindy has taught classes in playwriting, directing, and acting, with some rudimentary workshops in theatre design and clowning speckled in. She has also taught numerous workshops about the fundamentals of storytelling, poetry, spoken word, and finding one’s creative voice. She is the former Resident Teaching Artist and Education Associate at Philadelphia Theatre Company. Currently, Mindy is the Director of Education at Philadelphia Young Playwrights and a Program Consultant for Arts Holding Hands and Hearts. As a director of theatre, Mindy has worked with numerous theatre companies large and small on productions and developmental readings. Her directing work has been focused on new play development, largely in support of emerging artists and writers of all ages. She is the former Artistic Director of the Cardboard Box Collaborative (now disbanded), a small Philadelphia-based theatre company which focused exclusively on identifying or commissioning new plays from emerging playwrights. As a writer, Mindy has had the good fortune to have some of her poetry published in literary magazines and a number of her plays produced. Currently, she is revising her first novel, a Young Adult piece tentatively titled The Legend of Blossoming, and she is also working on a book of theatre games based on ten years of teaching theatre.
