Born and raised in South Dakota, I attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, for my undergraduate degree.  Following a year of teaching English to junior high students in Japan, I returned to my home state and taught upper elementary in western South Dakota.  During Summer 2003, I participated in the Summer Institute of Dakota Writing Project (DWP).  Since then, I have participated in a number of events through DWP and the National Writing Project.  I finished my Master's through Black Hills State University--MSCI-Reading Specialist program in 2009--and I currently teach 6th Grade Physcial Science in Austin, MN.  I continue to be an active member of the DWP Board of Directors.
