I teach English at Hidden Valley High School in the Roanoke County Public Schools and serve as the Assistant Director of the Blue Ridge Writing Project at Virginia Tech. I have been an invited speaker at regional, state and national conferences for English teachers. I have published scholarly articles for peer-reviewed journals on the topic of Multigenre Composition, as well as poetry in The Virginia English Bulletin, The English Journal and ALCA lines . I am currently working on two books: a professional text showcasing practical writing strategies for the secondary classroom and a foodoir, Strawbabies and Chocolate Beer, reflecting stories from my childhood on a Vermont farm interspersed with recipes.
